  • I was a pre-pandemic independent producer at Marin Center producing in 2019 Jefferson Starship/ Big Brother & the Holding Co to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. Logistically, I can no longer produce shows, but here is an idea: 60th anniversary of Summer of Love: 2027 is the 60th. There are still bands alive and kicking, several from SF Bay Area. Marin County kicked off the Summer of Love with the Fantasy Fair & Mountain Festival on Mt.Tam in early June 1967 with Jefferson Airplane (now J.Starship), Steve Miller Band, Sons of Champlin, Canned Heat, Grass Roots. Monterey Pop Festival followed in late June with Jefferson Airplane, Steve Miller Band, Canned Heat, Big Brother & the Holding Co. Other SF Summer of Love bands still around: Family Stone, Ace of Cups. Tribute bands: Grahame Lesh & Friends (Grateful Dead), SF Airship (J.Airplane/Starship), Wild Child (Doors). Perhaps a series in summer 2027 with a couple of these bands at each show?

How Engage Marin works

  1. The County asks

A County department posts a question seeking input on a key decision, project, or investment while a decision is still open.

  2. Residents answer

You share an idea in your own words, comment on your neighbors’, and vote for the ones you agree with. You can put your name on it or stay anonymous, and you do not need an account to get started.

  3. Staff take it forward

County staff read every idea, join the conversation where helpful, and summarize what residents said for the staff and boards making the decision.
