Nutritious and appealing food available at the cafeteria is a non-negotiable and it's embarrassing that workforce of thousands doesn't have access to that. Reopen to former gift shop again and have small things like aspirin, gift cards, books, flowers for wedding events, etc., available. A teen center with a career center connected since there so many youth job hunting. Horticultural displays/events. Clean up the goose poo by the lagoon. PLEASE clean the balconies; they are filthy on a national landmark. Food trucks for both community and staff. Since climate change is the Board's priority: Trees in the pit and upper admin parking lot, a shuttle to and from the train (we have many disabled employees who could really benefit from this), a shuttle that can move staff and/or resident around our multiple sites (CC, LG, 120, Canal, etc.). A mini-farmer's market on the first floor, akin to the Ferry Building. Use more greenery on the 4th floor to cool the hallway down and have events in the waterless garden, which almost no one knows is there. More benches in the waterless garden and tout the top of its hill as a wedding and/or photo destination. Fountains and plants anywhere add to the atmosphere of a place. I would really love to see a permanent installation of many of the employeees who worked there throughout the year - not just FLW and his team or judges/top brass, but everyday folks, real Marin folks, who gave their years to the County and have stories beyond stories; photos of people working there in the 60s/70s/80s/90s, and stories you could solicit from residents of Marin about what the building means to them or has had in their lives. That would be like a mini-history museum. Craft/maker sales/events, kids special events on the patio, make it a center of both learning and physical/mental/spiritual help.
