About Engage Marin
A public, idea-first platform where Marin residents shape county priorities through open conversation.
Last updated: May 2026
What is Engage Marin?
Engage Marin is a public, idea-first platform built for residents of Marin County. The County opens questions; residents reply with ideas, discuss them with neighbors, and the strongest threads inform what county leaders bring forward.
Unlike a comment box or a survey, every contribution here is part of a public conversation. Ideas can be upvoted, commented on, and merged when they overlap. Staff replies are visible to everyone.
How it works
The County publishes a question on a topic where resident input matters. Anyone can read the question and read every idea that comes back. Residents who sign in can post their own ideas, comment on others, and upvote what they want county staff to see first.
AI helps with the heavy lifting: detecting duplicates so similar ideas merge instead of fragment, surfacing themes across hundreds of submissions, and flagging spam or abuse for human review. Every AI decision can be reviewed and reversed by county staff.
Who runs Engage Marin?
Engage Marin is operated by the County of Marin. Staff moderate submissions and post official responses on behalf of departments. The platform is designed and built in partnership with civic-tech vendors under contract to the County.
Get involved
The fastest way to get involved is to read the open questions and reply with your idea. You can post anonymously or under your name; either way, your contribution is part of the public record.
