I wish our downtown areas were unique and shopping-friendly, like those near Rockridge, College Ave., or downtown Petaluma. Why can't San Rafael bring in shops that attract shoppers and those who stroll and browse? Fairfax is closer to this vision, but most shoppable areas lack these unique stores (unless VERY high-end and expensive). Have a range of stores and cafes that line our streets, not a mall. Make it reasonable to lease space. Bring in more multicultural food choices! We have enough sushi, Italian, and Mexican.
