I’d like Marin County to make homebuying more transparent and accessible. Buyers need greater transparency around asking prices and competing offers and adequate time to understand property conditions and repair costs before committing. Marin also needs to support new families and residents who have lived here their whole lives. People who grew up here, work here, and sustain our community need a realistic opportunity to buy a home. Starting a family should not mean leaving the place they call home. I’d like the County to explore a first-time homebuyer credit to help with down payments or closing costs. Eligibility should reflect Marin’s high housing costs, including households that earn too much for traditional assistance but still cannot afford to buy. Together, these steps could help longtime residents stay, new families put down roots, and Marin remain a community where the next generation can build a future.
