Restrict high-rise buildings to the outer fringes of our towns, or place them along the freeways. The historic character of our towns, especially San Rafael, is being destroyed by the mandated housing. The key concern is traffic. Traffic is already at a crawl in San Rafael's 2nd and 3rd street/Irwin and Lincoln corridors and the downtown highrises that are being approved are going to make it intolerable to visit downtown or drive through it on the way to other areas. I have three grown children who want to live in San Rafael or nearby, and I honestly can't recommend it to them with the current trajectory of high-rises and traffic.
