We need to create more habitat for biodiversity, focus on connecting these habitats, and informing the public (both citizens and government employees) the importance of creating local habitats. This would include (1) requiring planting locally native plants, (2) encouraging nurseries to grow local native plants, (3) educating children, adults, and government employees responsible for maintaining any government property on how to pick, care and plant locally native plants and create habitat for a wide variety of species, converting medians, lawns, areas around sidewalks, and other open spaces into habitat, banning invasive plants within the county, (4) encouraging residents to plant local native plants through incentives, and working with local biologists on ways to improve habitat. This would help combat the loss of biodiversity, help fight against climate change, and beautify our county.
