Restoration and protection of the natural environment, with a special focus on trees and canopy cover. The county and every city within should have a tree plan, including an accounting of existing trees, total canopy cover of each area, and guidelines for target coverage. All development plans (housing, parks, natural restorations, infrastructure such as roads/bridges/sidewalks/etc) should include a plan for trees (what will be added or removed, what does the plan do to total canopy coverage, etc). This will help not only protect Marin’s natural beauty, but will aid in protecting us against climate change, by reducing heat and storing carbon.
