A round about at SFD and Butterfield. When traveling west, many drivers try to avoid the long wait at the traffic light by moving into the right lane, only to force their way back in and block traffic in that lane. This creates frustration and unnecessary congestion. Traveling east, drivers turning left onto Butterfield from the staging area face another serious safety issue. Vehicles traveling west frequently turn right onto Butterfield at the same time, creating near misses between the two streams of traffic. I witness these situations daily, and it’s only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs. A properly designed roundabout could help reduce conflicts, improve traffic flow, and make this intersection safer for everyone.
