I want safe, class-1 bike lanes throughout west marin, where bikes can ride safely separated from cars. much of the infrastructure is partway there: rails to trails multi-use paths, crosswalks, bridges… but there are segments missing that currently require riders to get on dangerous, shoulder-less roads with fast traffic. We want to bike our family to school and work, and if there were safe connections made, we could! Check in with ranches to connect the end of the Cross Marin trail at the bottom of Olema Hill to Point Reyes station via Tocaloma. If MALT can incentivize ranch owners to protect land in perpetuity with conservation easements, then certainly there can be a movement and incentive for allowing public access easements on crucial connective segments! Marin is all about mountain biking and that’s great, and the road bikes own the roads on the weekends. But what about everyday bike commuting between the villages of West Marin? We want to bike safely with our kids!
