MORE support for the Aging Population which is paying a big share of taxes but does not get much focus. Marin Villages is an excellent program to provide support for elders in their own homes, but the county does not fund it and the members are limited. Medical care remains challenging as there are few geriatricians in Marin and few wound doctors as elders face health issues. The county used to publish a newsletter but stopped during COVID. There needs to support for people to create "chosen families." The goal is simple: to create a community where people feel known, valued, included and connected—and where friendships can grow into relationships we can count on. Because family isn't always who you're related to. Sometimes it's whom you choose. The county could have staff who would be the catalyst to create the connections that make life richer. As we grow older, some of the people who once formed the center of our lives may move away, become less available or no longer be with us
